An Irishman blinded by an explosion two years ago has had his sight restored after doctors inserted his son's tooth in his eye, he said on Wednesday. Bob McNichol, 57, from County Mayo in the west of the country, lost his sight in a freak accident when red-hot liquid aluminium exploded at a re-cycling business in November 2005.

So if he has problems, does he see his eye doctor or the dentist?

And it was worth it.

This is really weird and interesting. I didn't think you could do that, but it's very fortunate that it happended for him. Maybe that's the luck of the Irish for ya.

I know, it is a bit hard to believe. The toothy part is to get material that "takes", adheres and doesn't get rejected, etc. It even had to be from a close relative. We often forget that teeth are alive, pretty amazing things really.
